DEMOCRATS WHO’D RATHER SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT THAN CUT SPENDING

It seems that Democrats will do just about anything to avoid cutting spending and fixing our nation’s fiscal mess. President Obama and Nancy Pelosihave both recently said they would rather shut down the government and plunge the country into default than cut spending.  Apparently, they not only approve of our national debt skyrocketing past $16 trillion, but now want the authority to spend even more without any spending cuts.

“It sounds almost logical, but the two are completely separate. The debt ceiling is about spending that has already occurred. You’re going to say ‘I’m not going to pay my bills unless you stop buying stuff.’  Well, then stop buying stuff, so you don’t have future bills. But right now we have to pay the bills that have been incurred. And if you want to say cut spending for what we do next, fine, but don’t tie it to the debt ceiling.” (CBS’ “Face The Nation,” 1/6/13)
