NRCC Announces Vice Chairs for 2014 Cycle

WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden announced the Committee’s Vice Chair list for the 2014 cycle today.
“In addition to the help of these nine leaders, more than 50 additional members of our conference have already volunteered for important responsibilities that will strengthen our majority,” said Chairman Greg Walden. “We know President Obama will turn his political machine toward taking over the House, and our Members are prepared to expand our majority by staying on offense.”
Congressman Jason Chaffetz (UT), Digital: Chaffetz is beginning his third term in the House, and will be assisting the NRCC as the first Vice Chair of the Digital Department. Chaffetz is Chair of the House Technology Operations Team, which focuses on communications technology and outreach within the House and its Members. Prior to his election in 2008, Chaffetz served in Utah State Government as Governor Jon Huntsman’s Chief of Staff. He is also Chair of the Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Relations. He tweets from @JasonInTheHouse.
Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA), Coalitions: Herrera Beutler will be working with the Committee’s Coalitions Department for the upcoming election cycle. She is currently serving as the Chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues, and is one of the youngest women currently serving in the 113th Congress. Additionally, Herrera Beutler is the first Hispanic to represent Washington state in the House. Previously, she served as a Legislative Aide to Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and as a State Representative in the Washington Legislature. She will be working alongside Rep. Tom Graves (GA) to assist with coalitions outreach and organization within the NRCC.
Congressman Tom Graves (GA), Coalitions: Graves will be overseeing the Committee’s Coalition Department. As a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, Graves also serves on the Commerce, Justice and Science, Financial Services and Interior and Environment Subcommittees. Prior to his election to the House in 2010, Graves served in the Georgia General Assembly for over seven years. He will be working with Rep. Herrera Beutler to oversee and assist the Coalitions Department’s operations during the 2014 cycle.
Congressman Tim Griffin (AR), Communications and Strategy: Griffin will be working with the Committee to support the communications team, as well as the strategy department during the 2014 cycle. An Arkansas representative since 2010, Griffin served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Political Director for George W. Bush; Research Director and Deputy Communications Director at the Republican National Committee during the 2004 presidential campaign and Deputy Research Director at the RNC during the 2000 presidential campaign. He also served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas and Senior Counsel to the House Government Reform Committee. He is serving in his 17th year as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and Judge Advocate General’s Corps, was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and served with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Iraq.
Congressman Tom Price (GA), Policy: As Vice Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, Price will be working this cycle with the Committee’s Policy Department. First elected to the House in 2004, Price has served as Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee and Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, and has proven himself to be a trusted policy mentor for his fellow House Members. Prior to his election to the House, Price worked as an orthopedic surgeon, served four terms in the Georgia State Senate and became the first Republican Senate Majority Leader in Georgia’s history.
Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC), Recruitment: McHenry is serving as Deputy Republican Whip in the 113th Congress, and will assist the NRCC with candidate recruitment and outreach during the 2014 cycle. Prior to his election to the House in 2004, McHenry served as a State Representative for North Carolina’s 109th District. As a tireless advocate for the Republican majority, McHenry is a member of the House Financial Services Committee, and serves as the Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.
Congressman Steve Stivers (OH), Finance: Stivers will be working with the Committee’s Finance Department. As a member of the Financial Services Committee, Stivers oversees the banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities industries during the 113th Congress. Prior to his election to the House in 2010, Stivers served in the Ohio National Guard, the Ohio State Senate and has also worked in the private sector for the banking industry. His demonstrated fundraising success over the last three cycles will ensure this committee’s continued success.
Congressman Cory Gardner (CO), Patriot Program: Gardner will be working with the NRCC’s Patriot Program, which focuses on assisting Members who are facing re-election in competitive districts this upcoming cycle. A lifelong Colorado resident, Gardner served in the Colorado State Legislature for five years prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. Gardner is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees national energy, health and communications policies. He will be working alongside Rep. Reid Ribble (WI) to ensure the Committee’s Patriot Program priorities and goals are being met.
Congressman Reid Ribble (WI), Patriot Program: Ribble will also be working with the NRCC to help oversee the Committee’s Patriot Program for this upcoming election cycle. A Wisconsin native, Ribble is beginning his second term in the House and is a member of the Budget Committee, the Agriculture Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Last election cycle, Ribble was a Patriot Program member and therefore has the experience and firsthand knowledge of the types of challenges Members are facing in competitive districts. He will be working alongside Rep. Cory Gardner (CO) to assist with this program.
