Host Of Obama’s DCCC Fundraiser Vows To “Destroy” Candidates Who Support Coal And Oil

We’ve been talking all week about Tom Steyer, the liberal billionaire and environmentalist hosting President Obama’s DCCC fundraiser in San Francisco tonight.

Steyer has been a main opponent of the Keystone Pipeline and a leader of the anti-coal movement. But today, in an interview with The Hill, he vows to “destroy” candidates who support American energy like coal and oil.

“Tom Steyer, who made his riches as a hedge fund manager, told The Hill on Tuesday that he wants to make climate change a campaign issue for years to come and Democratic support for environmental protections as widespread as support for gay marriage and immigration reform.

 

‘The goal here is not to win. The goal here is to destroy these people. We want a smashing victory,’ Steyer said of candidates he judges to be on the wrong side of the climate change debate.”

 

This means he’s vowing to “destroy” candidates from both sides of the aisle—even some he’s supposedly raising money for!

President Obama must reject this extremism and speak out for American energy independence. He must condemn these comments immediately. Silence on this issue will be deafening and only show that he tacitly agrees with Steyer’s far-left energy extremism.
