As Obama Approval Rating Craters, House Dems Fret About 2014
Quinnipiac is out with another poll showing President Obama’s approval rating mired in the mid-forties. Just 44 percent of respondents approve of the job he’s doing, while 48 percent disapprove.
This hasn’t been their first poll to show this trend. The same survey showed Obama with a 45 percent approval rating in late May.
But Obama is never running for reelection again. Who cares, right?
Well, remember President Obama promised Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats an unprecedented level of engagement to win back the House in 2014.
In fact, he is so desperate to return to the glory days of complete Democrat control of Washington, he’s committed to eight fundraisers for the DCCC this year alone, put his entire organization behind Democrat House candidates, and is even helping with recruiting.
The question is now whether Democrats will be saying “thanks, but no thanks.” As the president gets increasingly unpopular, Democrats are further reducing their chance at regaining the majority.
I strongly doubt a president whom half the country thinks isn’t doing a good job will be a hot commodity on the campaign trail.
With Democrats running on a platform of higher student loan rates, unbalanced budgets, and continued support of the “train wreck” that is ObamaCare, they’re already going to have a tough time selling their agenda to the American public. Adding a president with sinking approval ratings sure doesn’t help.
