Everything In This New Poll Is Bad News for Obama and House Democrats. Everything.

January 22, 2014

House Democrats hoping that their fortunes might start to heat up in 2014 might want to take a look at the latest Quinnipiac poll. In fact, there isn’t a single piece of good news in there for Democrats hoping to avoid a disastrous 2014 election.

The President’s approval ratings wont be running to the Democrats’ rescue anytime soon, as just 40% of voters approve of his job performance.

Meanwhile, the President’s ratings remain upside down on the critical issues of the economy (39-56%) and healthcare (36-59%).

The White House’s recent scandals and stunning failures to lead have taken a toll as well. A shocking (ok, not so shocking) majority of Americans, 53%, say that the Obama Administration is “not competent” in running the government.

Even the President’s agenda is having trouble getting Americans’ support. The White House is trying to distract Americans from the dismal economy and the stunning failures of ObamaCare with a push for a job-killing minimum wage hike, but it’s not working – healthcare remains the top priority for Americans (18%) while jobs (16%) and the economy (15%) hang heavy in voters’ minds.

Keep it up, Democrats! If the President and House Democrats continue to stay the course they’re on, 2014 will shape up to be a great year.

From Quinnipiac:

Naming “the top priority for President Obama and Congress in 2014,” 15 percent of voters say the economy, while 16 percent list jobs or unemployment, a total of 31 percent, while 18 percent list healthcare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. A total of 10 percent list the budget, the budget deficit, spending or other budget-related items. Another 4 percent list bi-partisanship or cooperation and 2 percent list education.

American voters give President Obama a negative 40 – 54 percent approval rating, compared to 41 – 53 percent January 8, and 38 – 57 percent December 10, indications that his plunge has leveled off.

The Obama administration is not competent running the government, voters say 53 – 42 percent. The president is paying attention to what his administration is doing, 45 percent say, while 47 percent say he is not paying attention.
