Colin has dedicated himself to community service and bettering the Hudson Valley. He has held leadership roles in state and local government, in which he focused on economic development and supporting our veterans, and he founded a nonpartisan government reform group to fight for stronger ethics laws. Recognizing that so many of the Hudson Valley’s problems come from corrupt, failed leadership in Albany, Colin took his voice to the State Assembly to fight for our communities. During his first legislative session, and despite being a member of the Assembly minority, the Assembly passed an astounding 43 bills sponsored or cosponsored by Colin – where he showed bipartisan leadership on issues ranging from tax relief to ethics reform and economic development. But Colin’s record of fighting for his constituents is found in more than just legislation passed, but in making sure the Hudson Valley’s voice is heard on the most critical issues of the day. Just last year, as the pandemic raged, Colin was the only New York State official at the White House COVID vaccine distribution summit, speaking for his constituents on the importance of the Hudson Valley’s recovery from the global pandemic. Now Colin Schmitt is running for Congress to fight for the Hudson Valley, to be the Hudson Valley’s voice in Washington, and fill the void left by Congressman Maloney’s failures. Colin is committed to fighting for Hudson Valley priorities like strong national security and secure borders, tax relief for families and seniors and support for veterans and law enforcement.
