Jesse was born and raised in the public school system in the hard-working industrial town of Decatur, IL. When Jesse had the opportunity to attend and play football at Yale University, he knew he had experienced the full promise of America as the Land of Opportunity. Trying to give back in the most meaningful way possible, he went through Marine Corps Officer Candidates’ School to serve our country as a Marine. In the final moments of the 2010 Yale-Harvard Football Game, however, he tackled Harvard’s running back and served two nerves in his neck, leaving parts of his right arm permanently paralyzed.

The injury ended Jesse’s Marine Corps dream, but he went to Afghanistan anyway as a civilian contractor. Next, Jesse launched the Warrior-Scholar Project, which has empowered thousands of veterans to successfully transition from the military to college through “academic boot camps” hosted at 21 of America’s top colleges and universities. He then went on to serve our country as a federal criminal prosecutor. Jesse is now running to serve our country in Congress in his hometown district, the 13th Congressional District of Illinois, where his family has been for six generations, since 1839.
