House Republicans Pass Three Bills To Combat Human Trafficking

House Republicans came together this week and passed three bills to combat human trafficking.

This legislation will allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to law enforcement training, housing victims, mental health counseling and job training.

These efforts are a needed step towards ending this inhumane epidemic.

The House has approved three measures that dedicate hundreds of millions of federal dollars to curbing human trafficking.

The bills tackle human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. One program would invest in law enforcement training. Another program provides housing options for victims, as well as mental health counseling and job training.

Speaker Paul Ryan says human trafficking is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world and that law enforcement needs every possible resource to fight it.

President Donald Trump says he’s hopeful the Senate will take up the bills as soon as possible.

Lawmakers say only about a quarter of human trafficking cases are actually identified. They say the bills will help ensure that children and other vulnerable populations learn how to avoid traffickers.
