Rangel Wrangling for Pact with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sources Say

With his committee chairmanship on the line over ethical lapses, Rep. Charles Rangel met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Monday to mull his fate.

“I don’t think the Speaker would accept his [stepping down] as chairman,” a Democratic insider told the Daily News.

Sources said Rangel hopes to reach a compromise to keep his powerful Ways and Means Committee chairmanship and pay whatever he owes the feds in back taxes.
