Rangel Link to Oil Exec Eyed by Panel

The House ethics committee voted Tuesday to widen the scope of its probe into Manhattan Rep. Charles Rangel.
Investigators will now look into whether the 19-term Democrat protected a tax loophole for an oil drilling company that pledged money for the Charles B. Rangel Center at City College.
“The congressman requested that the ethics committee put it on their agenda,” said a spokesman for Rangel, head of the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.
