NRCC targets Iowa Dems welcoming Pelosi

The National Republican Congressional Committee is hoping to make life uncomfortable for three Democrats who will welcome Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to their state this weekend.

Pelosi will travel to Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday for a roundtable at a local school to tout the economic stimulus package. That evening, she will attend a fundraiser benefiting the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

As cap-and-trade legislation makes its way slowly through Congress, Republicans are using Pelosi’s trip to take early shots at Reps. Leonard Boswell, Bruce Braley and Dave Loebsack. Boswell will join Pelosi at the Des Moines middle school, and all three members will attend the fundraiser.

The NRCC is launching a wave of automated calls in all three districts urging voters to reject “San Francisco values” and the cap-and-trade legislation, which Republicans have labeled the national energy tax.

“Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is coming to Des Moines to push her liberal agenda,” the calls state. “Pelosi plans to headline a fundraiser on Saturday with Congressman Boswell to push her ‘National Energy Tax.’ which experts say will raise energy costs and devastate Iowa communities and farms.”…
