Nation: NRCC Builds Volunteer Network With Program
The National Republican Congressional Committee’s volunteer program, “Call to Arms,” will host its first event of the cycle next month.
An invitation to the July 15 reception asks guests to enroll in the volunteer program or donate $50 to the NRCC. Freshman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (Utah) heads the CTA program, which targets potential volunteers in the Washington, D.C., area.
According to the invitation, the program has three ranks to signify a participant’s level of activity with the NRCC: Corporal volunteers must pledge 20 hours of volunteer time and will receive access to updates on key races, candidates and GOP officials.
The Sergeant level requires participants to complete 20 hours of volunteer work and recruit five more CTA members. Those volunteers will be rewarded with all the benefits of being a Corporal, plus invitations to “exclusive events.”
The highest rank on the program is Gunny, which requires 50 hours of volunteer work and bringing in 10 new CTA members. In addition to the benefits of being a Sergeant and Corporal, Gunnies receive “first consideration for campaign deployment to key races around the nation and special recognition by the NRCC,” per the invitation.
