Visclosky Hands Over Some Duties After Subpoena

Representative Peter J. Visclosky announced on Tuesday that he would temporarily relinquish his primary duties as chairman of the House appropriations subcommittee for energy and water, after receiving a grand jury subpoena last week related to the federal investigation of the lobbyist Paul Magliocchetti’s PMA Group.

Mr. Visclosky, Democrat of Indiana, said in a statement that he was delegating responsibility for handling the spending bill for energy and water issues for the 2010 fiscal year to another member of the committee, Representative Ed Pastor, Democrat of Arizona. Mr. Visclosky will remain the subcommittee’s chairman.
