Targeted Phone Calls Force Obey to Answer the Question Wisconsin Voters Want to Know: Where are the Jobs?

Washington-The National Republican Congressional Committee has announced that it has launched a series of targeted phone calls to alert Wisconsinites of David Obey’s congressional malpractice. After spending 40 years in Washington, Obey has become increasingly out of touch with middle-class Wisconsin families. While unemployment in Wisconsin has soared to nearly 9 percent and families continue to feel the pinch, Obey is more concerned with carrying water for his party bosses and pushing their reckless agenda.

Wisconsin voters might remember that Obey helped lead the charge on Nancy Pelosi’s failed ‘stimulus’ bill – a fiscal nightmare that has left Americans with nearly a trillion dollars in debt and nothing to show for it.

“Doling out earmarks, wasting taxpayer money, and breaking promises from his perch in Washington have become par for the course for David Obey,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Serving as the architect of Nancy Pelosi’s failed stimulus plan may have helped him score political points on Capitol Hill, but that’s no consolation to the middle-class Wisconsin families who could soon face double-digit unemployment. Wisconsin families are asking for jobs, but all David Obey has delivered is more wasteful government spending on the backs of their children and grandchildren.”

The targeted calls will force Obey to answer the questions of his constituents. Why does he continue to turn his back on Wisconsin families?

I’m calling with an action alert about Congressman Dave Obey. Dave Obey has been in Congress for over 40 years and is out of touch with what Wisconsin workers are going through. Wisconsin is losing jobs, yet David Obey is focused on spending your money and carrying water for Nancy Pelosi’s failed stimulus bill.  Dave Obey and Nancy Pelosi’s stimulus bill adds nearly a trillion dollars to the deficit – at a time when Wisconsin families are hurting. The unemployment rate in the city of Wausau is almost 13%, higher than the state and national averages.  Yet Dave Obey’s answer is more spending, more debt and more job loss.
