Suzan DelBene is After Your Healthcare

Joins Democrats’ Quest for Government-Run Healthcare

Washington– In her quest for Washington’s 8th Congressional seat, Suzan DelBene promises to bring real change to Washington. Unfortunately for Washington families, her change will be a government takeover of healthcare that will raise taxes, devastate small businesses, result in significant job loss, and could force 14,222 seniors in the district to lose their Medicare plan.

Regardless of the potential havoc it would have on Washington families, DelBene has decided to join the Washington liberal bandwagon in an attempt to destroy the current healthcare system:

“Suzan supports health care reform that is focused on providing quality, affordable health care to all Americans.  Reform needs to support individual freedom of choice to keep your current plan and doctor, or to choose public or private alternatives.” (DelBene for Congress)

“During her short campaign, Suzan DelBene has already proven that if elected, she would just be another Pelosi puppet and rubber stamp for liberal Democrats’ agenda in Congress,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Rather than pave her own road and support constructive policies that will benefit hard-working Washington families, DelBene has taken the easy way out. By supporting government-run healthcare, DelBene has chosen to add a mountain of taxes to already struggling Washington families and put thousands of Washington jobs in jeopardy.”

DelBene claims to understand small businesses:

“Now, that brings me to my second point, which is experience. I’ve created jobs throughout my life. I’ve taken raw ideas and turned them into businesses- businesses that have created jobs and helped people build lives and raise families. I’ve also been an executive at a large company, at Microsoft, where I was one of the top 120 executives in a company of 80,000 people. Fifteen of those executives were women. Knowing how to manage small businesses, large businesses, what it takes to make a successful business is critically important as we try to figure out the problems with the economy today.” (DelBene for Congress)

Then why is she supporting government-run healthcare which will serve as a kiss of death to small businesses?:

“‘Unfortunately, the House healthcare bill will do nothing to lower costs and instead will actually harm not help small business owners.  The House bill includes expensive employer mandates, punitive payroll taxes and a new government-run program that threatens the viability of private insurers. Research shows an employer mandate alone could cost 1.6 million jobs with more than 1 million of those jobs lost in the small business sector.” (Press Release, House Healthcare Bill Harms Small Businesses, Destroys Jobs,” National Federation of Independent Businesses, July 29, 2009)

DelBene says she’s the person to lead Washington through these hard economic times:

“I’m running for Congress because these are tough times, and the decisions we make over the next few years will be some of the most important decisions we make in our lifetime. We need a strong representative in Washington, D.C. to help us make those decisions, and we don’t have that today. That’s unacceptable and it needs to change.” (DelBene for Congress)

But according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, her support for government-run healthcare could be detrimental to the federal deficit:

“Instead of saving the federal government from fiscal catastrophe, the health reform measures being drafted by congressional Democrats would increase rather than reduce public spending on health care, potentially worsening an already bleak budget outlook, the director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said this morning.

“Under questioning by members of the Senate Budget Committee, CBO director Douglas Elmendorf said bills crafted by House leaders and the Senate health committee do not propose ‘the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount.’

“‘On the contrary,’ Elmendorf said, ‘the legislation significantly expands the federal responsibility for health-care costs.’ (Lori Montgomery, “CBO Chief Criticizes Democrats’ Health Reform Measures,” Washington Post, July 16, 2009

As DelBene proves to be another tax-and-spend Democrat on the campaign trail, surely Washington families will see through her false and empty promises.
