Will Chet Edwards Let Pelosi Call His Plays?

With The San Francisco Speaker in His Home State, Edwards Will Have A Difficult Time Playing for the Right Team

Washington– Texas vs. Texas Tech isn’t the only big game in the Lone Star State this week – Nancy Pelosi is also hoping for a few touchdowns as she hosts a lavish fundraiser in Austin. After several unsuccessful policy runs, Pelosi is hoping to gain some momentum for her losing team. But with Pelosi in the state, will Chet Edwards stand on Pelosi’s sideline as she continues her drive to bankrupt America or will he finally suit up and do what’s best for Texans?

“This wouldn’t be the first time Chet Edwards has proven his loyalty to team captain Nancy Pelosi at the price of his constituents,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Despite playing up a conservative image in his district, Edwards has been the definition of a Democrat team player by voting with Pelosi 97.8% of the time. As Edwards continues to fumble on bipartisanship and real solutions, it’s clearer than ever that he’s incapable of carrying the ball for Texas taxpayers.”

Edwards put the ball on the turf by voting for Democrats’ ‘stimulus’ plan as Texas’ unemployment reaches a 22 year high of 8 percent:

The Texas unemployment rate hit 8 percent for the first time in 22 years as the state lost another 62,200 nonagricultural jobs in August, the Texas Workforce Commission said Friday.

“The jobless rate was up from 7.9 percent in July, according to the commission. The state’s unemployment rate last hit 8 percent in November 1987 during the dying days of an oil bust that ravaged the Texas economy.” (Linda Stewart, “Texas unemployment hits 22-year high at 8 percent,” The Associated Press, 9/18/2009)

If Chet Edwards continues to let Nancy Pelosi call his plays, he might as well throw a Hail Mary and hope for the best in November’s elections.
