With Special Election Officially Set, Scozzafava Offers Agenda of Job Creation, Fiscal Responsibility
Republican Candidate’s Record is Unmatched on Job Creation, Fiscal Responsibility, and Less Government Spending
Washington — The NRCC released the following statement regarding Governor David Patterson’s proclamation that the special election to fill the vacancy in New York’s 23rd Congressional District will occur on November 3:
“As voters in central and northern New York take a close look at the candidates vying to succeed John McHugh, they will see that Dede Scozzafava is the only candidate in the race with a principled and proven record that is not beholden to an ideological or party label,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “From creating and protecting jobs to fighting against the most irresponsible budget in New York state history, Dede’s record is exactly what Washington needs. Now that the race has officially been called, we will continue to support her and do everything we can to defend her record against the vicious and nasty smears that continue to be lodged by her opponents.”
DEDE ON JOBS
Dede Scozzafava believes businesses create jobs, not the government. She supports returning the initiative to the private sector by cutting taxes to free up capital for reinvestment.
DEDE ON SPENDING
Dede believes government spending is out of control, and that government always spends money more wastefully than we would otherwise spend it ourselves. Outraged with the reckless spending being proposed, Dede voted against the entire, bloated New York State Budget this year.
DEDE ON FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Dede is a true fiscal conservative, and supports:
- Making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent
- A permanent repeal of the Death Tax
- Permanently fixing the Alternative Minimum Tax
- (AMT) to keep it from hitting the middle class
- Earmark reform and will vote against individual earmarks that do not meet the “greatest need, greatest good” test.
