Senior Illinois Dem Says Government Isn’t Spending Enough, Does Bill Foster Agree?
After Pumping Trillions into the Economy, Dems Say it Still Isn’t Enough
Washington– The federal deficit has reached a monumental high of $1.4 trillion under Democrats’ watch and thanks to their recent spending sprees it could swell to $9 trillion over the next decade. Rather than taking heed and following the necessary steps to reduce the ballooned deficit, Speaker Pelosi and her Democrat foot soldiers are charging full speed ahead with their big-spending, big-government policies. Shockingly, Illinois Democrat Danny Davis believes the government is still not spending enough. After rubber stamping the failed $1 trillion stimulus and Pelosi’s $1.2 trillion healthcare takeover, does Bill Foster agree with his Illinois colleague or will he finally say no to his party’s reckless spending habits?
“The Congressman has been “smothering” the economy through a lack of spending, one lawmaker said Tuesday.
“Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) defended health reform legislation and other federal spending, arguing that they were essential to enabling economic growth.
“If you hold your fist too tightly, and nothing goes out, nothing comes in. And ultimately, you smother whatever is in there to death,” Davis said during an interview on Fox News. “And I think we’ve been smothering our economy.” (Michael O’Brien, “Congressman says lack of spending ‘smothering’ the economy,” The Hill, 11/10/2009)
According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans are losing confidence in the economy and in Democrats:
“Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index last week fell to a 15-week low, the job situation didn’t improve, and consumer spending remains down 34% from the same week a year ago. A 26-year high in the unemployment rate and a new 2009 high in gas prices seem to have more than offset any potential economic confidence benefits associated with the gains in the Dow.” (Dennis Jacobe, “Gallup Economic Weekly: Confidence Slips So Far in Nov.,” Gallup, 11/10/2009)
“Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup’s generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month.” (Jeffrey M. Jones, “Republicans Edge Ahead of Democrats in 2010 Vote,” Gallup, 11/10/2009)
“Bill Foster and his Democrat party bosses’ excessive spending habits are driving the economy into the ground,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “With Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat foot soldiers controlling Congress, Americans have seen the economy bleed jobs and the deficit skyrocket to unprecedented levels. After rubber stamping every big-spending, tax-hiking bill Bill Foster votes on, it’s no surprise Illinois families want to know when the spending will stop. Will Foster ever learn how to say no, or will he continue to support the policies that are bankrupting the nation?”
