NRCC Steps Up Voter Engagement with Two-Way Mobile Communications Program for State of the Union
NRCC Will Launch Live “Text to Chat” and Online Q&A Programs
Washington—Tonight in anticipation of the State of the Union address, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) will launch a “Text to Chat” program starting at 9pm. The mobile chat will allow Americans across the country to discuss the speech via a mobile chat room and will be followed by a live video Q&A session with Members of the House Republican Conference. The program is intended to encourage an ongoing dialogue between concerned Americans and House Republicans, and is open to anyone interested in discussing the policies that will affect them. Users can sign up at www.nrcc.org or text “UNION” to 777218 from an internet enabled phone.
Republican thought leaders who will be participating in the “Text to Chat” program include Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, Former Senator Fred Thompson and Jeri Thompson, Former Congressman Tom Davis, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist, and RedState.com Editor Erick Erickson.
“Although we’ve seen several mobile political campaigns over the past few years, we believe that they have not fully harnessed the opportunities provided by mobile communication – in particular the two-way communication component,” said NRCC eCampaign Director John Randall. “We are creating a dialogue with concerned Americans—not just a monologue as we’ve seen with the Democrats.”
