Titus’ Wasteful Partisan Agenda Continues to Fail Nevada

Misplaced Priorities, Wasteful Government Spending Show Few Results

Washington- Another month of high unemployment has passed and Nevada families are still hoping for Dina Titus’ empty promises to finally transpire into real results. Unfortunately for them, the national unemployment rate has continued to hover around 10 percent – despite Democrats promises of keeping it below eight percent – and Nevada’s unemployment sits at an abysmal 13 percent. Rather than getting her priorities straight and breaking from her party’s big spending ways, Titus has continued to serve as a rubber stamp to the Democrats’ reckless agenda. Now, Titus’ party leaders are on a mission to push their runaway healthcare bill through Congress against the will of the American people. Nevada families want to know: Will Titus help them?

“Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters say the health care reform plan now working its way through Congress will hurt the U.S. economy.”

“Two-out-of-three voters (66%) also believe the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats is likely to increase the federal deficit.”

“Seventy-eight percent (78%) also believe it is at least somewhat likely that taxes will have to be raised on the middle class to cover the cost of health care reform.” (“57% Predict Health Care Plan Will Hurt The Economy,” Rasmussen Reports, 3/09/10)

Despite the Democrats’ best spin, the economy is worse off than they are willing to admit:

“’Only 36,000 lost their jobs today,’ crowed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, as if losing thousands of jobs was an achievement.

“’Take that ‘only 36,000’ figure. The real number is actually 51,000 jobs lost, because the government counts 15,000 temporary workers hired by the Census as new jobs. But these jobs aren’t, in any meaningful sense, real full-time jobs.

“If you count those who are discouraged or working part-time when they want a full-time job, the jobless rate soars to 16.8%.”

“Private sector employment gauges pretty much show the same thing. For instance, the pollsters at Gallup each month ask Americans questions about their employment. In February, the Gallup report shows, some 19.8% of Americans reported that they were underemployed or not employed at all.” (Editorial, “The Jobs Picture Is Even Worse Than It Appears,” Real Clear Markets, 3/08/10)

“After empty promises of job creation and fiscal responsibility, it is clear to Nevada families that Dina Titus’ stimulus is an abject failure,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Despite a year of dismal unemployment rates, Titus refuses to see the writing on the wall. Leaving Nevada families buried under mountains of debt are left to ask: Where are the jobs? With her party leader’s intent on pushing their runaway healthcare bill through Congress at all costs, will Titus stop them?”
