Code Red to Betsy Markey-Mezvinsky: Brace Yourself

As Promised, NRCC Unleashes “Washington Madness” Ad Targeting Markey for ‘Yes’ Vote On Healthcare Takeover

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), as part of its Project Code Red offensive, will be launching an ad targeting Betsy Markey-Mezvinsky for helping ram a trillion-dollar healthcare takeover through Congress. Markey-Mezvinsky is the first of many Democrat targets that can expect to see the ad running in their districts in the coming weeks, courtesy of the NRCC.  Markey-Mezvinsky caved to President Barack Obama and Speaker Pelosi’s shady wheeling and dealing and turned her back on the millions of Americans who have repeatedly rejected the Democrats’ unpopular healthcare agenda. Titled “Washington Madness,” the purpose of the ad is clear: Betsy Markey-Mezvinsky may think she can get away with her ‘Yes’ vote for the Obama-Pelosi healthcare bill but she should brace herself for more targeted ads coming her way.

Transcript: It’s March…and that means it’s madness. But not basketball madness…it’s madness in Washington. Democrats like Betsy Markey voted for a “corrupt” bill . Pork-barrel spending. Special deals for Nebraska, Florida, Louisiana. The press says “it’s about bribery…” “behind closed doors…” “After all this wheeling and dealing, we will still have a cost-raising, tax-increasing… bill…” Call Betsy Markey. Tell her to stop the corruption…stop the madness. [Disclaimer] The National Republican Congressional Committee is responsible for the content of this ad.

“By ignoring an overwhelming majority of her constituents, Betsy Markey-Mezvinsky walked the plank for Nancy Pelosi by supporting her party’s partisan government takeover of healthcare,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Markey –Mezvinsky’s ‘Yes’ vote for her party’s healthcare bill has fueled a new level of anger and frustration within the constituency she claims to represent. By choosing partisan politics over competent leadership, Markey-Mezvinsky has opened herself to an ad campaign reminding Colorado voters that their member of Congress is an out-of-touch Washington politician that will do anything to pass her partisan agenda.”

Will Colorado voters let Markey-Mezvinsky off the hook for backing a partisan healthcare bill or will she pay the price in November?
