RED ALERT: Employers Crunch Numbers, Brace for Impact
President Obama Promised Economic Growth in Aftermath of Dems’ Healthcare Takeover
“President Barack Obama used his weekly radio address to tout the economic benefits of overhauling the health care system, saying that reform would help build a ‘new foundation for our economy to create the good, lasting jobs and shared prosperity of tomorrow.’” (Nia-Malika Henderson, “Obama: Health bill will create jobs,” Politico, 1/9/2010)
RED ALERT: Small Businesses Begin to Feel the Sting of Costly Mandates:
“As CEO of Seilkop Industries, Ken Seilkop worries that the health care reform bill will hurt his five small companies and 110 employees. ‘I know it’s going to be a big cost increase,’ he said Monday… Seilkop says if he has to budget extra money for health insurance coverage, he’ll have to trim other spending. ‘That means fewer raises, fewer increases and we cut other benefits from something else,’ he said. His firms make parts for the auto industry and he worries about foreign competition from companies that don’t have to offer health insurance. ‘I am very convinced it’s not going to be good,’ Seilkop stated.” (“Small Business Owners Crunch Numbers on Health Care Bill,” KYPost.com, 3/29/10)
