NRCC Launches “Pop-Up Dems” Web Ad

Video Highlights Dems’ “Celebration” of Obamacare While American Families Disapprove

Washington– The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has launched a web ad featuring the signing ceremony of the Democrats’ government healthcare takeover. With the latest polls showing a majority of Americans opposing the bill, and many major corporations announcing significant financial setbacks as a result of it, it’s clear that the Democrats’ healthcare takeover is not the kind of reform America needs.

“A new Associated Press-GfK poll finds Americans oppose the health care remake 50 percent to 39 percent. Before a divided Congress finally passed the bill and Obama signed it at a jubilant White House ceremony last month, public opinion was about evenly split. Another 10 percent of Americans say they are neutral.

“Disapproval for Obama’s handling of health care also increased from 46 percent in early March before he signed the bill, to 52 percent currently – a level not seen since last summer’s angry town hall meetings.”

“The public doesn’t seem to be buying it.

“Fifty-seven percent said they expect to pay more for their own health care, contrasted with 7 percent who expect to pay less. And 47 percent said they expect their own medical care to get worse, compared with 14 percent looking forward to an improvement.” (“AP Poll Finds Rising Disapproval of Health Bill” Associated Press, April 15, 2010)

“After dismissing public opinion and putting his radical big-government agenda before the overwhelming majority of voters who opposed this legislation, President Obama and his party leaders forced a trillion-dollar government takeover of healthcare through Congress anyway,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “This ad might mock the Democrats’ healthcare takeover, but it’s nothing compared to the mockery that Democrats made of the legislative system by forcing their bill through Congress against the will of the American people. Just one month after the healthcare takeover was signed into law, it’s clear that the American people won’t forget this majority’s ongoing quest to raise taxes, kill jobs, and balloon the size of the federal government on Election Day.”
