NRCC Launches TV Ad Exposing Trent Van Haaften’s Shameful Record on Taxes

Indiana State Rep. Opposed Property Tax Relief, Supported Fiscal Recklessness

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) launched its first TV ad exposing Democrat candidate Trent Van Haaften’s vote against much needed property tax relief during his time in the Indiana State House of Representatives. Van Haaften could have saved taxpayers a half billion dollars in property taxes and reduced the average homeowner’s bill by 28 percent.  Instead, he chose to turn his back on Hoosiers and support big government in a time when middle-class families desperately needed the relief. As the right-hand man to Indiana Speaker Pat Bauer, Van Haaften repeatedly puts his status as a career politician before the people he is supposed to represent.

“Trent Van Haaften’s voting record of protecting the pocketbooks of middle-class families gets a failing grade,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “During his time in the Indiana State House, Van Haaften turned his back on Hoosiers and voted against property tax relief proving that he is wildly out-of-touch with the people he claims to represent. Van Haaften could have saved Hoosiers a half a billion dollars in property taxes, but chose to take the liberal path toward fiscal recklessness. It’s no wonder that he wants to go to Washington, he’d fit right in with Nancy Pelosi and her liberal Democrat friends.”
