Panel Grills Pelosi on Massa Case

July 2, 2010

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was recently interviewed by the House ethics committee regarding the sexual harassment allegations against former Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.), and the panel is expected to release its final report on the probe soon, according to sources close to the issue.
It’s not clear if the ethics investigation will reveal anything new about Massa or whether it will implicate any other lawmakers or congressional staff members, but Republicans have been pushing the committee to probe exactly when Pelosi and other Democratic leaders learned of the sordid harassment allegations about Massa.
Pelosi’s office declined to comment on any specifics about her interview with the ethics panel – which took place in her office – but said the California Democrat and her aides have cooperated fully with congressional investigators.
“The speaker has always said that our office will fully cooperate with the committee,” Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami said in a statement.
