NRCC TV Ad: Why Won’t Chet Edwards Do His Job and Write a Budget?
Member of Pelosi’s Budget Committee Targeted for his Refusal to Create a Budget

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has launched a TV ad reminding Texas families that Chet Edwards (TX-17), a member of Nancy Pelosi’s House Budget Committee, has failed to govern by refusing to write a federal budget. While American families and small business owners express their concerns about keeping the federal deficit down, Edwards has remained fiercely loyal to Speaker Pelosi in helping to push the Democrats’ out-of-control spending spree through Congress. By refusing to write a budget (the first time the House hasn’t passed one since 1974), Chet Edwards has dismissed an opportunity to rein in government spending and provide the fiscal discipline needed to create jobs and grow the economy.

“While American families and small business owners are forced to tighten their belts and make tough economic choices this year, Chet Edwards refuses to create a budget to rein in his party’s runaway spending and restore the kind of fiscal discipline that is essential for job creation,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “With the national debt at the highest level in history, Edwards owes it to his constituents to produce a responsible budget to get the economy back on track and to alleviate the future burden on our children and grandchildren. By failing to write a budget and ignoring the demands of Americans who are pleading for fiscal responsibility in Washington, Chet Edwards has effectively written his own political obituary.”

Transcript: If you could create a long-term plan to reduce the deficit, grow the economy, and create jobs, would you?

Chet Edwards won’t.

As a member of Nancy Pelosi’s Budget Committee, Edwards could have crafted a long-term budget to reduce our deficit, provide fiscal discipline, and create jobs… but he didn’t.
