It’s Official: Carney’s ObamaCare Allows Taxpayer-Funded Abortions
Carney’s Vote Paved the Way For Pennsylvania’s New Policy on Abortion

Washington– Whether Pennsylvania families like it or not, under a new high-risk insurance pool program – which is part of ObamaCare – their hard-earned money can now be used towards tax-payer funded abortions. After voting for his party’s healthcare takeover under the guise that it would not provide money for abortions, it is now apparent Chris Carney’s promises were a complete sham. Thanks to $160 million provided by the Department of Health and Human Services and Carney’s ‘Yes’ vote on ObamaCare, Pennsylvania will now be the first state to allow taxpayer-funded abortions of this kind. Now, after years of touting his alleged “pro-life” values, Carney’s political double-speak is now exposed.

“The Obama administration has officially approved the first instance of taxpayer funded abortions under the new national government-run health care program. This is the kind of abortion funding the pro-life movement warned about when Congress considered the bill. The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new “high-risk” insurance program under a provision of the federal health care legislation enacted in March.

“The high-risk pool program is one of the new programs created by the sweeping health care legislation, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Obama signed into law on March 23.” (“1st Taxpayer-Funded Abortions Approved Under Obamacare,” LifeNews, 7/14/2010)

Many “pro-life” Democrats voted for their party’s healthcare takeover because of a Presidential executive order to ban taxpayer-funded abortion, but it is now clear the executive order was a complete sham:

“’There will be no public funding for abortion in this legislation,’ Stupak said. ‘We’ve all stood on principle.’

“Stupak’s change of heart came as President Obama agreed to release an executive order backing up the existing ban on taxpayer funding for abortion. The White House released the pending executive order minutes before Stupak announced his decision.” (Brian Montopoli, “Stupak to Vote Yes on Health Care Bill,” CBS News, 3/21/2010)

“This new ObamaCare program which allows for taxpayer-funded abortions is further proof that Chris Carney and his out-of-touch Democrat friends cannot be trusted,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Now, thanks to Carney and his political double-speak, Pennsylvania families’ hard earned tax dollars will be going towards a practice that is in direct opposition to many of their beliefs. Carney’s actions are proof-positive that he and the Democrat majority only care about pushing their partisan agenda and not the constituents they were elected to represent.”
