NRCC Launches “Where are the Dems?”
New Website Feature Tracks Townhalls As Democrats Continue To “Run For Cover”

Washington-
As the Democrats’ continue to run for cover this summer, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) today launched a new feature on its website tracking if Democrats are holding public townhalls during recess. The Democrats have spent over 18 months ignoring their constituents and they spent last August receiving unprecedented amounts of voter frustration in one angry townhall after another. Yet, during this recess period, Democrats still refuse to hear the voices of the hard-working American people as they push forth unpopular, job-killing policies of the Obama-Pelosi Agenda.

“As Nancy Pelosi’s Democrat puppets refuse to face the American people this August, it has become even more apparent that no amount of spin or political attacks will save the Democrat majority from being held accountable for their unpopular agenda on Election Day,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Now, with the elections less than 100 days away, one would think Pelosi’s vulnerable Majority would attempt to engage their constituents face-to-face this August. Thus far, frustrated voters across the country are still left asking: Where are the Dems?”

Nancy Pelosi claimed on ABC’s “This Week” that Democrats are proud of their job-killing agenda and are not in a position to lose their majority this November:

“We [Democrats] are very proud of the agenda we have put forth to the American people.”

“…we’ve been legislating for the past 18 months. The other side has been in campaign mode for 18 months, saying no, stopping job creation and the rest. But our members are the best salespersons for their own districts. They’ve been elected there. They know their constituents. (ABC News, “This Week,” speaker.gov, 08/01/2010)

Yet, President Obama and Speaker Pelosi are desperately urging House Democrats to distract voters and launch dishonest attacks on Republican campaigns during August recess:
“House Democrats plan a six-week messaging campaign for the August recess in which they’ll warn voters that putting Republicans back in power would mark a return to failed George W. Bush administration policies.” (Michael O’Brien, “Democrats’ summer strategy,” The Hill, 07/27/10)

“…[T]he DNC will unveil a ten point blue print on how they claim the ‘Republican-Tea Party’ would govern if they reclaim the majority in Congress in the midterm elections.” (Paul Steinhauser, “Dems label GOP as ‘Republican-Tea Party,'” CNN Political Ticker, 07/28/10)

However, in another effort to avoid confrontation with the constituents who elected them, Pelosi’s Democrat puppets are refusing to heed their leaders’ advice and engage in townhalls with the American people, as the Democrats’ “Run for Cover Summer” drags on.
