Iowa Dem Refuses to Cut Ties and Part with Dirty Campaign Cash from Embattled Colleagues Rangel and Waters
Washington- With senior Democrats Charlie Rangel’s and Maxine Waters’ ethical lapses threatening to overturn the Democrat majority, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is launching targeted calls aimed at holding Leonard Boswell accountable for $59,000 of the shady duo’s tainted campaign funds. House Democrats once promised to “drain the swamp” and restore accountability in Washington, but now both Rangel and Waters face a serious trial before the Ethics Committee for numerous alleged violations.
“Leonard Boswell has demonstrated once again that he would rather hold on to thousands in tainted campaign cash from Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters than cut ties with the ethically embattled duo,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “By choosing to stand by Rangel and Waters despite the major ethical charges they’re facing, Boswell is silently endorsing Washington’s corruption problem. And what’s worse, rather than explaining why Democrats have broken their promise to ‘drain the swamp,’ Boswell continues to ‘run for cover’ this summer.”
So far, Boswell’s fellow Democrats have coughed up more than $640,000 in dirty campaign cash from Rangel and Waters combined, yet Boswell refuses to return all of his donations and even voted three times to keep Rangel in charge of a powerful committee. With the election 85 days away, voters can add Boswell’s name to the growing list of out-of-touch Democrats who refuse to promote accountability in Washington.
