August 13, 2010

The South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce held its 16th annual State of the District luncheon Friday in the Terrace Club Restaurant at the AT&T Center.
In addressing the crowd, U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez advocated for more private-sector and global investment, but said there several recent projects to be proud of on the South Side.

Rodriguez, a Democrat, is running for re-election in the 23rd Congressional District.

In addition to such projects as the Mission Reach and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, he also lauded the growth of Stinson Municipal Airport, which he said has attracted tenants in the aviation field. He also noted a years-old joint venture between Palo Alto College and the airport to train air traffic controllers.
