EVANSVILLE — Larry Bucshon, Republican nominee in the 8th District congressional race, has picked up the endorsement of conservative political action committee Campaign for Working Families. “When Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama decided to dismantle the world’s best medical care, Dr. Larry Bucshon knew we could do better, and that is why he is running for Congress,” said a statement issued by Gary L. Bauer, chairman of Campaign for Working Families. “As a successful heart surgeon, Dr. Bucshon understands our health care system needs reform. As a hardworking taxpayer, Dr. Bucshon knows that government mandates, higher taxes and bloated federal bureaucracies are not the solution.” Bucshon, a Newburgh-based heart surgeon, is opposed by Rep. Trent Van Haaften, D-Mount Vernon, in the race to succeed departing U.S. Rep. Brad Ellsworth, D-Evansville, in Congress. Ellsworth is running for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind.
