Kinzinger touts 'Pathway to Prosperty' in Bloomington appearance

BLOOMINGTON — Republican congressional candidate Adam Kinzinger promised to bring jobs to McLean County if he is elected Nov. 2.

Kinzinger stopped at the Republican party headquarters in Bloomington to announce his eight-point agenda, dubbed “Pathway to Prosperity,” as part of his effort to unseat one-term incumbent U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson, a Democrat from Crete, in the 11th Congressional District.

“Our contract with the voters is just to ensure that we have a clear path for restoring representative leadership to the 11th District and getting our nation and the economy back on track,” said the former McLean County Board member. “McLean County is in a great position. We have the lowest unemployment in the state, but it needs to be a lot better than it is now and we need to figure out ways to bring more high-paying jobs here.”

Kinzinger laid out what he said were his eight “pathways” to responsive representation, jobs, smaller government, responsible spending, national security, fulfilled promises to seniors, energy independence and limited taxes.

Among the specific proposals he offered were repealing health care reform, reducing business regulations, canceling unspent stimulus money, promoting development of nuclear and other domestic energy sources and extending the tax cuts that are set to expire in 2011
