John Koster Advances to Top Level of Young Guns Program
“John Koster has proven that he’s ready to take on incumbent Rick Larsen, an out-of-touch Democrat who has blindly supported his party’s failed agenda of job-killing policies and reckless spending,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). “John’s campaign is a symbol of the growing momentum behind Republican candidates in Washington and across the country. As Democrats and their party bosses continue to force their big-government, big-spending policies onto the backs of hard-working families, Republicans like John Koster will continue to present a clear alternative to a Democrat majority that unapologetically spends too much, borrows too much and taxes too much.”
John Koster was elected to the Snohomish County Council in 2001 and served as its chairman in 2004. Prior to that, he was elected to three terms in the Washington State House of Representatives. Born and raised in Arlington, Washington, Koster owned and operated a dairy farm in North Snohomish County for 23 years. Koster has already proven that he’s ready and able to beat Rick Larsen, having taken the top spot over the incumbent Democrat last month in Washington’s open, all-party primary. Thanks to his reputation as a fiscal watchdog, Koster will provide a stark contrast to the fiscally reckless status quo that Larsen has embraced during his decade in Congress.
Originally founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Paul Ryan (R-WI) as a member-driven organization, the Young Guns program has become an official NRCC effort dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. Reps. Cantor, McCarthy and Ryan remain actively involved in Young Guns, working together to recruit and prime conservative leaders for victory.
Now that John Koster has completed the Young Guns’ benchmarks to place him on the road to victory, he is ready to take on loyal lapdog Democrat Rick Larsen in November.
