Keown speaks on Bishop scholarships, fundraising
ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Congressional candidate Mike Keown says Congressman Sanford Bishop shouldn’t need a rule book to know the difference between right and wrong.
Mike Keown addressed the Artesian City Sertoma Club in Albany Thursday afternoon. He told the group that Bishop is raking in fundraising money from people in other states, whereas, most of Keown’s dollars are coming from the people who live in the second congressional district. For the first time, Keown also publicly addressed reports about Bishop’s family and staff members of his wife receiving scholarships from the Congressional Black Caucus. “I think everybody knows it’s not right. It’s not hard to figure out what’s right and what’s wrong and in this instance, I think definitely it was wrong. He knows that,” said Keown. “If he needs us to draw everything out in black and white so that we can tell him what’s right and wrong, it makes me wonder really about the decision making process he goes through to make other decisions.” Bishop did not violate any rules in place at the time governing the scholarships, but he did repay more than $6,300 to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. |
