Jeb Bush endorses Southerland
PANAMA CITY — Former Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday endorsed Republican Steve Southerland for Congress.
“Steve Southerland has my endorsement as a conservative reformer,” Bush, a Republican who served as Florida governor from 1999 to 2007, said in an announcement.
“Steve provides the common sense vision and conservative leadership to challenge the big-government agenda in Washington. I know he will work on cutting spending, reducing taxes and most importantly, fighting for North Floridians’ values and jobs. The people of the Second District can count on Steve to stand up for them in Washington.”
Southerland said he’s “honored” to have Bush’s endorsement.
“Jeb has been an effective leader for our state, and his counsel will prove invaluable to me as I fight to return a voice to the people of the Second District. I look forward to the opportunity to represent my community’s values, cut taxes to create jobs, shrink wasteful spending and stand up against the liberal agenda to increase the heavy hand of government in our lives.”
