Drowning in the Swamp

We knew that Democrats were running scared this election cycle because they’d followed Nancy Pelosi’s lead instead of the desire of voters, but now we also know they’re scared because they’ve got so much to hide.

Just look at the slew of recent news reports (even though we can’t forget about all those older examples, too) that show Pelosi’s ethical swamp is deeper than ever – and the American people are sick and tired of it.  Despite her claims of draining the swamp, Pelosi’s allies have nonetheless been preoccupied with securing reelection and helping special interest friends rather than their constituents, who still suffer from ever rising unemployment and a sluggish economic recovery – despite a $787 billion “stimulus”.

For example, in West Virginia’s Third District, entrenched Democrat Nick Rahall’s family is tied up in a lawsuit involving the Congressman’s sister and a lobbying firm.  Allegedly, Ms. Rahall’s lobbying activities are so closely tied to Representative Rahall that when a firm fired her she threatened to use her brother’s connections to blacklist the organization in Washington.

Elsewhere, in Massachusetts, a disturbing case is developing.  Norfolk District Attorney Bill Keating is the Democrat running for the open seat in the Commonwealth’s Tenth District as a defender of law and order.  The only problem?  He’s more interested in lining his campaign coffers.  His office is currently prosecuting a man charged with shooting a firefighter – but the defendant’s attorney has donated over $1,500 to the campaign and even hosted a fundraiser for Keating.

In Alabama, Bobby Bright (AL-02) is no different.  This freshman Democrat, who has repeatedly put Pelosi’s wishes before the best interests of his constituents, is now worried that people are going to follow the money trail and find out that several of his campaign donors have been indicted by the FBI.  And what were these donors indicted for? Trying to buy and sell votes throughout the state of Alabama.  Looks like Bobby Bright bought his own little parcel of land in the ethical swamp in Washington.
