Sessions Statement on September Unemployment Report

Washington- National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) issued the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s September unemployment report, the final such report before Election Day:

“This report is not only the final affirmation of the failed job-killing policies of Washington Democrats, but it frames the national political debate from now until Election Day. There is now no doubt that this election will be a referendum on the Obama-Pelosi agenda that has created chronic unemployment and paralyzed the free enterprise system. The unemployment rate has escalated far beyond the eight percent mark that Democrats promised before their so-called ‘stimulus’ bill was enacted into law. For nearly two years, Democrats have been unable to produce an answer to the fundamental question: ‘Where are the jobs?’ After 21 months of broken promises and a shattered economy, Americans are asking for a new direction in Washington that will finally empower job creation throughout this country. Republican candidates are offering that new direction with plans to end the uncertainty facing small businesses and help our economy get back to creating jobs. With middle-class families continuing to suffer under the Democrats’ failed leadership, Republicans are ready to make the closing argument that there is only one party that can lead the country back to prosperity and finally put Americans back to work.”
