Leader Boehner Pledges Support to Secure Agriculture Seat for Mike Keown

Washington – House Republican Leader John Boehner today pledged his support to secure an assignment on the important House Agriculture Committee for Mike Keown, GOP nominee for Georgia’s Second Congressional District.

“Mike Keown has my full support for a seat on the House Agriculture Committee,” said House Republican Leader John Boehner. “Mike has lived in a small farming community for 27 years and understands the challenges facing farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. He would be a strong advocate for solutions that address the issues facing agriculture communities, and I look forward to working with him, the Republican leadership, and the Members of the Steering Committee to place him on the committee at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Boehner represents the two largest agriculture counties in Ohio and previously served on the House Agriculture Committee for 15 years.

The economy of Georgia’s Second Congressional District is driven by agriculture. Peanuts are the major crop in rural southwest Georgia, with the Second District producing well over 25 percent of all peanuts produced in America. The region also produces many other crops including cotton, soy beans, tobacco, pecans, watermelons, and wheat.

Mike Keown is a “Young Gun,” the top tier of the NRCC’s Young Guns program. Learn more about Keown here:
