Poll: Schilling leads Hare

October 20, 2010

Republican Bobby Schilling is leading Rep. Phil Hare, D-Ill., in a new poll done for the Hill, a Washington, D.C., newspaper. The poll says Schilling is leading 45-38, with 14 percent undecided. The poll, done last week, has a margin of error of plus/minus 4.8 percent.

This is one of the few independent polls in this race. Interestingly, it says 45 percent of independents see Hare negatively, but only 18 percent view Schilling that way. This, despite a big spending advantage by Hare and the DCCC over the Republican campaign arm in the House.

That’s been balanced by a conservative group targeting Hare. But, if accurate, that’s a big gap given the amount of money targeting Schilling.

You can read the Hill’s account here. It’s the second race profiled.
