Sean Duffy: Country needs new leaders, new direction
Washington and Madison have left us with mounting
debt and little to show for it. Like you, I’m frustrated.
That’s why I stepped aside from a job I loved to run
for Congress.
After the nearly trillion-dollar stimulus bill passed, I
knew I needed to be a part of the solution. My goal
is to offer a check and balance in Washington,
because that’s when government works best.
I am eager to help get Wisconsinites back to work
and restore fiscal discipline. I have two solid plans.
The first is a detailed jobs plan to reduce
uncertainty and restore confidence so we can kick-
start our economy. My second plan lays out six
steps to improve fiscal responsibility and reduce
our debt. Both can be found on my website www.

I have tried to run a positive, issue-based
campaign. My lumberjack-themed ads about cutting
spending and “dunking career politicians”
demonstrate that. And I’ve put forth solid plans and
ideas.
On the other hand, my opponent’s Madison voting
record speaks for itself. In Madison, she raised
taxes, implemented policies that kill jobs, increased
spending, allowed illegal immigrants to get in-state
tuition, and supported government-run health care,
leaving us with a $2.7 billion budget hole. She did
it in Madison, and she’ll do it in Washington. We
can’t afford that.
Senator Lassa is trying to run from her record by
airing false ads about me, starting with Social
Security. Every independent factcheck organization
has called her attacks false. I will not privatize Social
Security. I will protect this important program for
our seniors.
My opponent also lies about my record as district
attorney. Ashland’s County Board has actually
requested Senator Lassa take down her disparaging
ads that paint a false image of the Ashland
community. I am proud of my 90 percent trial
conviction rate, and my tough stance on sexual
predators and drunk drivers. I’m even prouder to
have the support of the Ashland law enforcement
community who helped me prosecute criminals.
Senator Lassa has had plenty of negative ads against
me, but interestingly, she’s never told you about her
own record in Madison from the last 12 years. The
reason is simple. Her record as chairwoman of the
Economic Development Committee has led to
150,000-plus jobs lost, higher taxes and increased
government spending. I’m committed to adding
jobs, lowering taxes and treating your hard-earned
tax dollars with respect.
It’s also worth noting that Senator Lassa has a zero
percent rating from the NFIB, the largest small
business organization in the country. How does the
chairperson of the committee responsible for jobs,
not vote with the small business community even
once? I’m proud to have the endorsement of NFIB
and other pro-job organizations, and I will work
with them.
Finally, I will not become a career politician — I’m
the only candidate in this race who supports term
limit legislation.
This race is crucial to our country. Where have the
failed policies of Madison and Washington gotten
us? We need new leaders to take us in a new
direction, and that’s why I’m asking for your vote on
Tuesday.
