Everything’s Fine in Pelosi’s Alternate Universe
Pelosi Bizarrely Believes the Key to Getting Her the Speaker’s Gavel Again is for Dems to Further Embrace Obama and Their Government Takeover of Healthcare
- Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi Tuesday morning doubled down on the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare that socks small businesses with job-destroying new taxes and fees, claiming that she hopes Americans get to find out what’s in the healthcare law.
- The funny thing is that two years ago Pelosi said nearly the same thing when she explained that Democrats had to pass the bill so we could “find out what’s in it.” Pelosi doesn’t seem to realize that American workers and families have figured out “what’s in it,” and they don’t like it.
- Life must be good in Pelosi’s alternate universe where the government takeover of healthcare apparently is popular, because Pelosi also claimed Tuesday that she and her party are “proud” to have President Obama at the top of the ticket in 2012. If that’s true here in the real world, then why are Democrats going out of their way to avoid being seen with Obama?

PELOSI ON HEALTHCARE LAW: HOPES HER LEGACY IS THAT AMERICANS GET TO FIND OUT WHAT IS IN HEALTHCARE LAW: “Well what I want is to see that the healthcare reform bill be recognized for what it is. … One of the reasons I’m here was the passage of that bill, and now its safe-keeping, and its transition into what, so the public knows what it is, in terms of the difference it makes in their lives.” (Remarks From Nancy Pelosi at Politico‘s “Playbook Breakfast,” 1/17/2012)

“DEMOCRATS DUCK OBAMA”: PRES. WAS “UNQUESTIONABLY AN ANCHOR ON THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEES” IN EACH OF THE LAST THREE SPECIAL ELECTIONS: “The past three elections — the Sept. 13 House special elections in New York and Nevada and the Oct. 4 West Virginia gubernatorial special election — haven’t done much to inspire confidence about Obama’s ability to help the entire ticket: The president was unquestionably an anchor on the Democratic nominees in each race.” (David Catanese and Alex Isenstadt, “Democrats Duck Obama,”Politico, 10/24/2011)
“GROWING SIGNS THAT MANY DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS DON’T WANT TO GET TOO CLOSE TO” OBAMA: “But already, as Obama’s most recent forays into battleground states indicate, there are growing signs that many Democratic politicians don’t want to get too close to him, either.” (David Catanese and Alex Isenstadt, “Democrats Duck Obama,” Politico, 10/24/2011)
