Pennsylvania Democrat Unwilling to Do in Washington What Middle-Class Families Are Doing at the Kitchen Table
Washington – When the House voted today on a resolution that would reverse the culture of spending sprees that have dominated the Democratic agenda for the past two years, Mark Critz’s vote was a classic reminder of how out-of-touch he still is to the wants and needs of the American public. As Critz turns his back on fiscal responsibility, he has proven that he would rather unload steep deficits on hard-working Americans than take a bold step toward restoring sanity to our budgeting process.
“Democrats like Mark Critz have proven once again that they do not understand the drastic need for an immediate return to fiscal responsibility,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “It’s obvious that Critz is intent on stubbornly clinging to the same failed Democrat policies that stand in the way of job creation. With middle-class families being forced to tighten their belts, it’s disappointing that Critz is unwilling to do the same.”
The Republican proposed cuts, which would bring spending back to 2008 levels, has already fallen on deaf ears in the White House and among Democrats. In his annual State of the Union address, President Obama will counter that spending needs to increase to help stimulate the economy, especially those programs that lie within the Democratic agenda:
“Mr. Obama will argue that the U.S., even while trying to reduce its budget deficit, must make targeted investments to foster job growth and boost U.S. competitiveness in the world economy. Despite the American public’s repeated rejection of the careless spending and bloated budgets the Democrats have championed for the past two years, Mark Critz continues to push for even more of the same fiscal irresponsibility that has lead to an unprecedented fiscal crisis. By refusing to vote for this resolution, Mark Critz has once again ignored his constituents’ needs and instead voted with the Democratic status quo.
