Making It Worse: Thanks to Kissell, Government Takeover of Healthcare is Taking its Toll on Americans
North Carolina Democrat Had the Chance to Repeal the Ailing Big-Government Behemoth that is Making Healthcare Worse

Washington — Although the House is poised to repeal another part of the Democrats’ failing government takeover of healthcare this week, Larry Kissell has made it clear he will defend the deeply flawed law which is doing more harm than good to the American healthcare system (Roll Call #14, 1/19/11). Kissell and his Democrat leaders are making it clear they will continue to defend the disastrous policy that has left more Americans uninsured, is crushing small businesses and cut $500 billion from Medicare.

“Despite the overwhelming evidence of its failure, Larry Kissell continues to cling to the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare which is actually making matters worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Kissell’s constituents in North Carolina won’t forget that he defended policies that are making healthcare less affordable for middle-class families just to appease his Washington Democrat party leaders.”

The number of uninsured Americans has actually been steadily climbing under the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare:

“More American adults lacked health insurance coverage last year than in any year since Gallup and Healthways started tracking it in 2008. The uninsured rate has been increasing since 2008, climbing to 17.1% in 2011.” (Elizabeth Mendes, “More Americans Uninsured in 2011,” Gallup, 1/24/12)

More aspects of their healthcare takeover are failing, like the Medicare pilot programs:

“The evaluations show that most programs have not reduced Medicare spending: In nearly every program involving disease management and care coordination, spending was either unchanged or increased…” (Lyle Nelson, “Lessons from Medicare’s Demonstration Projects on Disease Management, Care Coordination, and Value-Based Payment,” Congressional Budget Office, 1/18/12)

Despite this, Democrat leaders have vowed to pursue their failed policy at all costs:

“There are other ways to bring healthy people into the healthcare system if the Supreme Court strikes down the individual mandate in President Obama’s healthcare law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in an interview Monday.” (Sam Baker, “Sebelius: ‘We keep going’ if court strikes down mandate to have insurance,” The Hill‘s Healthwatch Blog, 1/24/12)

After imposing enormous costs on small businesses, it turns out the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare Larry Kissell defended has seen more Americans become uninsured as well. Despite the obvious failures, Kissell and his Democrat leaders have made it clear that they will continue to cling to their tired agenda regardless of the costs.
