Jay Inslee Doesn’t Get It: ObamaCare Will Cost 800,000 Jobs

Washington Democrat Refuses to Repeal the Law the CBO Admits Will Destroy Jobs

Washington — Director Doug Elmendorf of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reiterated his finding in a House Budget Committee hearing that ObamaCare will cost Americans 800,000 jobs. The daunting number makes Jay Inslee’s vote against repealing the law earlier this year a stark reminder of his misguided priorities. Democrats like Inslee continue to only support more of the same spending and excessive regulation, despite the fact that the American public knows these policies have actually hampered growth and will destroy more jobs.

“Jay Inslee and his Democrat allies continue to live in a fantasy world where huge amounts of government spending and regulation create jobs, even though the hard evidence and the American people disagree,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “When he voted against the repeal of this job-destroying law, Inslee made it clear he and his fellow Democrats do not understand that their big government policies only hurt job growth and place more debt on the backs of middle-class families.”

At a House Budget Committee Hearing on Thursday, CBO Director Doug Elmendorf admitted ObamaCare would destroy 800,000 jobs:

“REP. [JOHN] CAMPBELL: …That means that, in your estimation, the health care law would reduce employment by 800,000 in ’20/’21. Is that correct?

“DIRECTOR [DOUGLAS] ELMENDORF: Yes. The way I would put it is that we do estimate, as you said, that the household employment will be about 160 million by the end of the decade. Half a percent of that is 800,000.” (Committee On The Budget, U.S. House of Representatives, Hearing, 2/10/11)

Jay Inslee doesn’t seem to get that you cannot create massive amounts of government spending and regulation while also creating jobs, and the Democrats’ healthcare law is proof. When will Inslee finally understand that the path to job creation involves removing the very same burdensome big-business policies that he so adamantly supported?
