Washington — When the House voted today on the continuing resolution funding the government for the remainder of FY 2011, Jim Matheson made it crystal clear that he intends to promote even more spending instead of making the cuts necessary to downsize government and lift the veil of uncertainty currently burdening job creators. In fact, just this week, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi praised the failed stimulus and its $814 billion price tag and threw House Democrat support behind the President’s spending-laden budget plan for FY 2012.
“When the stakes are at their highest, Jim Matheson’s true colors are showing as he votes in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi to promote more of the failed spending policies that continue to shackle America’s job creators,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Two years since the failed stimulus was signed into law, the only results middle-class families have seen are fewer jobs and exploding debt. Despite proof that more government spending has failed to create jobs, Matheson has made his choice to reject fiscal responsibility and embrace even more wasteful spending instead.”

In voting against a continuing resolution with the cuts his constituents in Utah demanded, Matheson demonstrated he will continue to follow Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat leadership down the path of more spending, more debt and fewer jobs. Unfortunately, Matheson still doesn’t seem to understand that it’s about time government lives within its means like families and small businesses across the country already have.
