Job Numbers Remain High as Rahall Fights for Failed D.C. Democrat Policies
West Virginia Democrat Helps Preserve Big-Spending, Job-Destroying Ways

Washington — Although new employment numbers demonstrate that the burden on families is still inexcusably high, Nick Rahall continues to stand by his Democrat leaders in D.C. who seem oblivious to the damage their free-spending ways have done to the economy. Upon embarking on their big-government spending spree, Rahall’s Democrat leaders assured us that it would keep employment under 8 percent. However, the results tell a much different story, and Rahall has his share of blame for enabling the failed policies that he and his fellow Democrats continue to defend to this day.

“These high unemployment numbers are a reminder that the policies that Nick Rahall and his Democrat leaders have supported have failed to adequately create jobs and left us with record deficits that will continue to hamper economic recovery,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Unfortunately, instead of embracing the reforms needed to create more private sector jobs, Rahall continues to side with his Democrat leaders in D.C. who are desperately trying to defend their failed big-spending, job-destroying policies.”

New reports show that families across America are still struggling under the effects of a lagging economy:

“Last year, nearly one in eight families included an unemployed person, the highest proportion since the Labor Department began keeping track in 1994.” (Catherine Rampell, Unemployment’s Rising Toll on Families,” The New York TimesEconomix Blog, 3/28/11)

The new numbers today demonstrate that job creation in America needs a boost while Nick Rahall and his Democrat leaders in D.C. are not doing enough. Rahall’s constituents in West Virginia need to question where his priorities are as he continues to defend his Democrat leaders’ record instead of embracing reform that will turn the economy around.
