West Virginia Democrat Tries to Spin Party’s Record of Spending and Borrowing
Washington — As Nick Rahall and his fellow Democrats continue to search for more distractions to cover up their disastrous record on spending and borrowing, we should remember that the key issue here is cutting government spending to end indebting our children and grandchildren to countries like China. There are two clear paths here: responsibly keep the government open and pay our troops or continue the Democrats’ failed policies of spending more money we don’t have. However, Rahall and his fellow Democrats are trying to spin their way out of this situation instead of fixing it.
“It’s not surprising that Nick Rahall and his fellow Democrats would rather try to spin their way out of the budget crisis than face the harsh reality that we are in this situation because they failed to pass a budget last year,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “This debate is fundamentally about spending, and on that issue Rahall and his fellow Democrats want to continue to stubbornly cling to their ideology of spending money we don’t have and borrowing it from China instead of acting responsibly as Americans have demanded.”
Despite their efforts to spin the issue, the Democrats are still fighting as hard as they can to oppose commonsense spending cuts:
As Nick Rahall and his fellow Democrats continue to try to spin their way out of their budgeting failures, just remember that the fundamental issue at hand is whether to make real spending cuts or continue to spend money we don’t have and borrow it from countries like China instead. As the national debt burden continues to pile on every family in West Virginia, it is clear that Rahall isn’t ready to get serious about spending cuts.
