Will McNerney Join the Democrats’ Calls to Raise Taxes?
California Democrat’s Leaders to Propose Job-Destroying Tax Increases Amidst Economic Uncertainty

Washington — Jerry McNerney’s Democrat leaders are planning to continue their job-destroying policies as President Obama prepares to unveil new tax increases on individuals and small businesses later this week. Despite the fact that rising costs continue to fuel harmful economic anxiety, McNerney and his Democrat leaders seem poised to threaten job creation in order to protect their big-spending ways.

“It appears that Jerry McNerney and his Democrat leaders would rather threaten job creation with tax increases during an increasingly fragile economic climate than give up their free-spending policies that led to this fiscal crisis in the first place,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Out-of-touch McNerney and his fellow Democrats clearly still don’t get it as they continue to remain addicted to government spending while rising costs are forcing families and small businesses throughout California to cut back even further.”

Worries over rising costs of everyday needs like food and gas are fueling economic anxiety:

“Inflation is a big concern for Americans, and the rising price of gasoline appears to be fueling that anxiety, according to a new poll conducted for The Hill. Sixty-two percent of 1,000 likely voters polled last Thursday said they were ‘very concerned’ about inflation, and another 26 percent said they were ‘somewhat concerned,’ leaving very few Americans who are not worried about rising prices.” (Ramsey Cox, “HILL POLL: Inflation, fueled by gas and food prices, adds to worry,” The Hill, 4/11/11)

Despite that, President Obama will propose more tax increases this week to fuel the current levels of government spending:

“He also will call for tax increases for people making over $250,000 a year, a proposal contained in his 2012 budget, and changing parts of the tax code he thinks benefit the wealthy.”

“Eliminating the Bush tax cuts for the highest earners, however, will only put a small dent in the projected deficit.” (Carol E. Lee and Damian Paletta, “Obama Puts Taxes on Table,” Wall Street Journal, 4/11/11)

Jerry McNerney and his fellow Democrats continue to demonstrate they have not changed one bit as they indicate they will move to prop up their spending binge with more job-destroying taxes during a particularly fragile economic climate. As unemployment in California remains unacceptably high, McNerney’s constituents will continue to wonder when he will put their needs before his Democrat leaders’ failed policies.
