Indiana Democrat Can Choose Between Two Competing Democrat Spending Plans Which Ignore Reality
Washington — Joe Donnelly’s Democrat leaders recently gave him several choices in terms of how to avoid confronting out-of-control Washington spending with President Obama’s fiscal policy speech and the House Democrat budget. Both Washington Democrat-made options make it clear that Donnelly and his fellow party members are still not ready to get serious about the spending spree they championed, whether it is the President’s calls to raise taxes and destroy jobs or the House Democrats’ plan to add more stimulus spending and do little else of substance. Still, it remains to be seen, which one of these Democrat proposals does Donnelly support?
“Between President Obama’s job-destroying tax hike plan and the House Democrats’ budget proposal to spend more failed stimulus money that does nothing to address unemployment, the common thread seems to be that Joe Donnelly and his fellow party members are still committed to their same old failed policies instead of actual solutions,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Still, the choice remains, would Donnelly rather raise taxes on thousands of small businesses struggling to gain a foothold or pile on even more of the same failed Democrat stimulus spending Americans have resoundingly rejected?”
President Obama recycled his plans to raise income taxes again yesterday, even though previous estimates found that some 894,000 small businesses would see their taxes raised from such a plan, resulting in layoffs and stunted growth. (Jonathan Karl, “Fact Checking the Tax-Cut Debate,” ABC News, 9/8/10)
And House Democrats were no better, slashing military spending and proposing even more stimulus spending:
“The budget would increase funding for food stamps and for infrastructure spending.”
(Erik Wasson, “House Dems roll out alternative budget with focus on defense cuts,” The Hill‘s On The Money Blog, 4/13/11)Despite the competing plans, Joe Donnelly and his fellow Democrats made it clear today that they are still not ready to get serious about averting the fiscal crisis they helped create. However, Donnelly still has a choice to make on how to preserve the Democrat spending spree. Would he rather raise taxes on small businesses and force layoffs or continue the Democrat’s addiction to spending with new stimulus plans?
