Boswell Wants to Spend & Borrow Even More from China Without Restrictions

Iowa Democrat Wants to Raise Debt Ceiling and Block Any Attempt at Fiscal Reform

Washington — As the fight continues to change Washington’s big-spending policies and avert an impending debt-driven fiscal disaster, Leonard Boswell is audaciously pushing to increase the country’s debt limit without any reforms or changes whatsoever to his free-spending ways. It appears Boswell is so addicted to his government spending spree that he would rather continue on this same path of spending more money borrowed from countries like China instead of acting like a responsible adult. As growing debt and interest costs threaten to crush small businesses and families struggling with their finances across Iowa, Boswell has made it clear he is unwilling to change his ways and become part of the solution rather than the problem.

“Leonard Boswell is trying to raise the limit on his maxed-out government spending credit card while avoiding any efforts to make the government live within its means,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Boswell is simply further feeding into his and his fellow Democrats’ spending and borrowing addiction which will only burden our children and grandchildren with more debt and make it harder for small businesses to create jobs.”

Democrats want to raise the limit on their borrowing in order to keep on spending, free of any type of reform:

“On the other side, Democratic Rep. Peter Welch, of the liberal Congressional Progressive Caucus, sent out a letter to Democratic leaders, signed by 114 House Democrats, demanding that Congress pass a debt-limit bill without any spending reforms at all.” (Byron York, “Get ready for game of chicken over debt ceiling,” The [Washington] Examiner, 4/18/11)

Boswell has joined them in the fight against fiscal responsibility. (“As stock market drops over worries about US debt, Welch leads 114 Democrats in demanding a clean extension of debt ceiling,” Office of Rep. Peter Welch, 4/18/11)

Leonard Boswell is fighting hard to continue his Democrat spending spree while ignoring that their debt problem makes it harder for small businesses to grow and create jobs. Once again, Boswell is joining his fellow Democrats in promoting more spending and borrowing from countries like China, placing more debt on current families and future generations throughout Iowa.
